Myrtle & Pearls
So you may have noticed Katie and I throwing the word “future hippie” around to describe any and all things neon/awesome/ugly/tribal/beaded/exotic/macraméd.

Everyone knows trends are silly, but they’re still fun, so every season we just sort of end up making funny names for trends as we see them. It’s kind of tongue in cheek, but really it just comes from loving how fashion continually surprises us with odd combinations that never would have occurred to us a year ago, and realizing that, and just having fun with it. In past years we’ve called things “Mellow Yellow”, “Revenge of the Nerds” (a look I’m still rocking, actually), "Up-up and away", "BBQ-Butch" and the list goes on and on....really it does.



Anyways, our current obsession is “future hippie”, and it just seems to be this catch-all for so many disparate things that just totally excite us right now! One of these things are earrings by Myrtle and Pearls!! We love them so so much!! What makes these future hippie in our eyes is that you can totally imagine the girls in Dazed & Confused wearing these, yet at the same time the colours and markings on the feathers have such a striking, graphic quality to them that also makes them very now – hence future hippie.



That’s not to say that just cos we deem something totes future hippie that we’ll be sick of it by summer’s end. These earrings are definitely here to stay. Next season we may be calling them "Bitch on Safari". The hair wraps and friendship bracelets on the other hand...I’m not so sure.
