dorm room hijinks

I'm staying in the Toronto University dorm rooms and I feel like a girl of 19 again. They are cheap and perfect for a summer visit. I have my own private room and share a bathroom but there is no one here so actually I have an entire locker room (10 showers, 10 sinks and 10 toilets) all to myself. I had a few drinks tonight at cold tea bar.......

shoe retribution

In my second year of costume college my class took a trip to Toronto and visited many fun places like the bata shoe museum. I couldn't afford to go so I stayed behind and ran the show that we made costumes for. I swore on my diploma that I would one day go there myself. voila!

I have about a million things to do before I leave this Sunday on the night bus for Toronto so of course what did I do this morning?! Poured a splash of rum in my tea and made a pussy willow crown.

tv interviews and timbits

I did an interview for Nicole Jone's City Lites on CTV this morning in my studio. It airs this Saturday at the end of the 6 o'clock news in Montréal. I bought timbits because every time I've been to a tv studio there is lots of donuts?? Plus I live really close to a Timmies and have never been there before.

Salmon Balcony

It was beautiful day (for once) so I walked to St. Viateur to get some fresh bagels. They also sell all the spreads you need and FIVE different brands of smoked salmon. They are also near to the SAQ and I had to buy some vodka for Krugman.



I've moved my kitchen table onto the balcony. It's pretty great but how do you eat fish without the vultures swooping in?

Dream Jewels

I had a dream of making these earrings for a while now and I've finally finished the first collection. It's sparkly costume jewelry for girls who grew up but never gave up on F-U-N.

I hope to try soldering soon and experimenting with more daring colours and shapes but I'm really excited so far. You know it's good when you sleep in them and look into dream mirrors to admire yourself.

 I swore I was only going to use netflix for the free trial run, that was 5 months ago. It's just so fucking convenient when you're sewing and it immediately starts the next episode for you.

A few weeks ago I sent some leather purses and earrings to a brand new store in British Columbia called Ad Hoc. Opened by Virginia Bray and for those of you who don't already know she created Nokomis in Edmonton, where I had my first job in fashion.

Mullets and Rap music

 
As if breaking up with your boyfriend wasn't hard enough, what if he was also your barber?! I can't cut the back of my hair myself so now I have a mullet. I didn't even have an electric shaver, I  had to shave my burns with a disposable razor, gutter punk style.
