don't be afraid of the dark

DSCF7566

this is a new dark crystal bag wired with TWO LED lights! the leather is black perforated and the red lining is stiff yet transparent making the light shine through.

DSCF7565

just press the black mold label and the lights turn on helping you find whatever it was you were looking for or just showing off.

not that you can tell in this spooky picture but i'm wearing the spring 2011 "black mold" black pleated trousers made from a beautiful silky tencel fabric from telio and i'm also wearing kayla's dawson city wolf t-shirt...(kayla i found your shirt in my drawer today..he he)

flea market

DSCF7428

i finally made it to Marché aux puces St-Michel at 3250 boul Crémazie Est, Montréal with some friends. it is a delightful mix of the super flea market and the antique mall, if you are from edmonton then you know exactly what i mean. my favorite part was these rings for $5 a piece, they come from a giant bin full of them and no two are alike. they all look so old and have gaping holes where the jewels should be (my favorite). i can't wait to go back and get that cheeseburger salt and pepper shaker set.

weekend fun

stephanie di giusto films for vanessa bruno. i love the idea of showing clothes this way, i think it helps everyone feel what designers and clothes lovers feel when they see a collection. fashion and music have been together for a while and filming it, so beautifully, makes it seem more like art? i can't explain. it inspires me. that's all.

wolfy coat

i love this coat. it's made with a thick navy wool and a light silk georgette lining. giant brass zippers, short sleeves and finished with black ribbing, and the best part.... glorious, soft, black rabbit fur back that wraps onto the front shoulders. it's finally on it's way to it's new home with erin k hooper, a wonderful artist and coincidentally my fall 2010 model. yup once you put it on you must buy it.

DSCF4768

i'm not abandoning this design, it's just a bit pricey to produce for consignment right now. but if anyone wants one email me.

HAPPY thanksgiving canada

DSCF7333

DSCF7319

today i am giving thanks for learning new things (again) example; pie crust and fly front trousers, two relatively simple things that i have technically done before but have been putting off re-learning for years...pure laziness.

DSCF7310

this is our thanksgiving afternoon meal of the day . pumpkin pie made from fresh pumpkin and a tiny little pumpkin stew pie for two. plus lots of wine and beer. this table is a garbage find in our alley and the old school chairs too, which i recovered in recycled leather and black cotton. montreal is amazing for recycling furniture for free. the jade plant is from elizabeth and the pot from the dollorama (i should have a cheapest decorating award). for dinner tonight it's popcorn and twizzlers at the movie theater. no family dinners just wine and work and going out with my baby. perfect.

these are the pants i made perhaps for spring collection? only in black of course. they are silk suede pleated trousers with a fly front closure, fully lined so you can roll up the hems and show off a nice silk crepe de chine liner. also notice the bottom of the leg is a different piece so you can have skinny legs but maximum pleated volume at the hips and pockets. they feel very silky on the legs.

grandma's pie crust:

5 1/2 cups flour
1/2 pound lard
1/2 pound butter
pinch of salt

mix with your hands

1 tbls white vinegar
1 egg beat with fork
add cold water to make 3/4 cup full

DSCF7297

mix it all together, should be dry not watery and roll out for pie crust. i don't have a rolling pin so i used an empty wine bottle, of which we have plenty! this is a lot of dough i used half the recipe for today, but you can freeze left over dough or store in fridge for a week..apparently.

dark dark crystal

here is the all leather (recycled) dark crystal tote. this bag looks really rich and fancy which contrasts nicely with my refugee wardrobe and new high high booties. you don't need to know where the shoes are from (cheap) but you do need to know where they are going... NEW YORK!! we've booked the bus tickets we're planning the details. If anyone has any advice please forward favorite Manhattan/Brooklyn restaurants, fabric shopping, clothing stores, bars, flea markets!! It is the second trip for both of us but first trip together and actually kinda our one year anniversary, celebrate! oh yeah and work, we will be showing stuff to some stores.

you can buy this bag in Calgary, Alberta at shisomiso boutique and gallery or online at my etsy

DSCF7152

After the weekend of selling jon and I finally got to party so we went to a pop montreal show in a warehouse in mile end. It was a start at midnight and dance until 4 am kinda of show and there was a taco stand inside! i had fun. these are pictures of gobble gobble.

DSCF7157

i don't know why i took half the pictures i did (drunk) but going through them this morning i realized that i unknowingly captured a dress i sold to someone this weekend. The black cowl back with a bleached out hem, cuuute!

DSCF7162

jessica's super cute skirt that i adore and her friend had a tie made of hair....

DSCF7147

also we brought our own wine and couldn't bring it in (obviously) so we had to hide it in the bush and come out for sips in this alley. funny!

puces pop part 3

DSCF7141
It was a crazy busy puces pop fair, very successful. Also stressful (especially because i don't speak french so good). It was held in the basement of the St. Micheal's church, which is a beautiful church, and honestly i didn't get any pictures of our table or the other vendors. I did however capture the sausage guy (who is not part of puces pop) but showed up Sunday morning across from us and I'm guessing is there every Sunday after the service to sell meat and cheese to the old people (who looked very bewildered and displaced). Elizabeth and i have been wanting to visit some stunning churches on Sunday service and i think this one just won my affection with meat. check out Persuasion to see a picture of the craft sale and one beautiful puces pop purchase that i covet.

st+michaels+1

here is a picture of some stuff sold. i got rid of all my samples (clothing and purses) which is great and a lot of necklaces and feather earrings sold, also great.
DSCF7138

AND just because she's so cute here are pictures of pipi trying to fit into one of the tupperware containers i carry my stuff in while I was working and packing for the sale.
